Dairy prices made a substantial climb at Tuesday’s GDT auction (Global Dairy Trade), with the index increasing by 4.8% compared to the previous auction.
The GDT auction takes place every two weeks, and after minor fluctuations in September and October, there was a significant price jump at the auction on November 5.
Apart from lactose, which fell by 6.1%, all categories saw notable price increases. Butter saw a strong rise of +8.3%. AnhydrousMilk fat, whole milk powder, skim milk powder, and cheddar rose by 4.6%, 4.4%, 4%, and 4%, respectively. Buttermilk powder increased by 2%, while mozzarella had a modest gain of 0.9%.
The average auction price settled at $3,997 per ton.
