Arla in Germany hit by cyberattack

The skyr production at Arla’s dairy in Upahl, Germany, has been disrupted for several days due to a cyberattack

Bjarke Kamstrup, Global Head of Media Relations at Arla, told the the Danish online media outlet Agriwatch that production has been affected for a week and is still not back to full capacity.

  • Last week, we detected suspicious activity that impacted the local IT network at our dairy in Upahl. Due to the security measures implemented in response to the incident, production has been affected. Our production and IT experts are working to restore normal operations, and we are now in the process of systematically restarting the systems to ensure everything returns to full functionality, Kamstrup said.

He added:
– We have already informed the customers affected by possible delivery delays and disruptions. At this time, we are unable to provide further details about the situation.

The dairy in Upahl produces skyr and processes around 500 million kilograms of milk annually. It employs 430 people.
