Arla UK is taking steps to make dairy products more accessible to charitable organizations across the UK by donating refrigerators and introducing a free milk dispensing machine.
Approximately 450,000 people in the UK depend on food aid, but many charities are forced to decline donations of fresh dairy products due to insufficient refrigeration capacity. In response, Arla UK has partnered with the organization FareShare to launch a nationwide initiative aimed at providing fresh milk to vulnerable individuals.
As part of this effort, Arla will fully fund refrigerators for FareShare-supported organizations, starting with an initial donation of 100 fridges.
To kick off the initiative, Arla is also unveiling the world’s first free milk vending machine in North London, allowing users to receive fresh milk at the push of a button.
“We are on a mission to enhance the accessibility of nutritious dairy products for communities across the UK. Too many charities have to turn away fresh dairy donations because they have nowhere to store it, but by working with FareShare we hope to overcome that,” says Jonathan Dixon, Senior Vice President at Arla.
