The economic potential of biosolutions in Denmark has now been quantified: over 40,000 jobs and an economic gain of DKK 96 billion by 2035.
Amsterdam Data Collective (ADC) is the first to calculate the sector’s economic potential—both in Denmark and globally. According to ADC’s analysis, biosolutions could generate more than 40,000 direct and indirect jobs in Denmark by 2035. The total economic gain is expected to reach DKK 96 billion, with more than half coming from direct value creation, according to a press release from Novonesis.
Globally, biosolutions could contribute more than DKK 6,500 billion in 2035 and create over five million jobs—provided the right political frameworks are in place. Although global competition and investment in biosolutions are intensifying, Denmark is well-positioned and has strong potential to play a central role in the sector’s development. However, industry leaders warn that action must be taken now.
Biosolutions play a crucial role in addressing some of the world’s most urgent crises and pave the way for new business models. They are already being used in more than 30 industries—from preventive healthcare and industrial applications to agriculture and food production.
