Exports of Danish cheese rose from 2023 to 2024, while butter exports declined, according to new figures from Statistics Denmark
Dairy exports from Denmark totaled DKK 28 billion in 2024—a 5% increase compared to the previous year and a record high in monetary terms. The total Danish food exports amounted to DKK 151 billion in 2024, as reported by Statistics Denmark.
The increase in exports is partly due to rising global prices driven by growing demand and stagnant supply. This trend applies across all four export categories: Milk and consumer dairy products, condensed milk, cheese, butter and butter oil.
Significant shifts have also occurred in how export volumes are distributed across different dairy product categories, explains Niels Ole Nielsen, Chief Consultant at the Dairy Association / Danish Agriculture & Food Council, in an interview with mejeri.dk.
