Milk powder drives prices up at dairy auction

After two auctions with price declines, prices rose again at Tuesday’s Global Dairy Trade (GDT) auction.

The GDT auction is held every other Tuesday, and analysts and stakeholders closely monitor price developments to gain insights into future price dynamics and their impact on the global market. At the dairy auction on Tuesday, January 21, dairy product prices increased by 1.4 percentage points, reaching an average price of €4,019 per ton.

Whole milk powder, with a 5% increase, was the primary driver of the overall price rise. There were also increases for cheddar (+2.8%), skimmed milk powder (+2%), and butter (+2.2%), while milk fat saw a significant drop of -7.8%.
