Rising demand for protein creates more jobs at TINE Frya

The rising demand for protein-rich dairy products is having a noticeable impact at TINE’s Frya facility, where strong sales growth is creating space for 17 new positions—an increase of 10 percent in the workforce.

TINE Frya produces cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, and YT® protein yogurt—products that have gained significant popularity in recent years. According to figures from NielsenIQ, cottage cheese sales have risen by 76 percent over the past two years, YT® protein yogurt by 193 percent, and Greek yogurt by an impressive 276 percent.

  • Consumers want protein-rich products, and they are the ones driving this development. We’re doing our part to meet the demand,” says Sigrid Svanborg, plant manager at TINE Frya, in a press release from the Norwegian dairy company.

TINE has already invested NOK 25 million in the Frya facility and is now expanding its workforce by 17 employees—11 of which will be operator roles in production. Once the new hires are in place, the plant will switch to 24-hour production of cottage cheese and expand yogurt production to seven days a week.

  • It’s a positive development that we’re increasing staffing. It means more stable operations, greater capacity, and most importantly, that we can offer more jobs here in Frya. That’s good for us who work here, for the local community, and for TINE, says Sigrid Svanborg.
