The partly Maersk-owned rail transport company TMT, which has been transporting containers through Russia, has misused Arla’s logo in sales material, Arla assesses – as per WatchMedia.
Arla Foods criticizes Maersk in a case about Russian rail transport. According to Arla Foods, the partly Maersk-owned rail transport company TMT has misused the company’s logo in sales material. In a sales presentation at a meeting between Shanghai Tieyan Multi-Modal Transportation Co. Ltd. (TMT) and a customer of A.P. Moller-Maersk, Arla Foods’ logo was used as an example of companies that have used the Russian means of transport. Arla Food does not want to be associated with this matter and has therefore asked Maersk to stop using the company logo.
– We have not had any knowledge of, nor given our permission for, an Arla Foods logo to appear in the sales presentation, Bjarke Munk Kamstrup, Head of Media Relations at Arla Foods, underscores in a written response to FødevareWatch, Shipping Watch, and Mobility Watch (business news media). He also emphasizes that Arla Foods has a strict policy on partners not being permitted to use the Arla Foods logo.
– The most important issue for me is to pinpoint that Arla Foods has not transported goods via Russia since the invasion of Ukraine, Bjarke Munk Kamstrup reiterates to WatchMedia.
Maersk rebuts
Maersk denies to ShippingWatch and MobilityWatch that the sales presentation implies that TMT offers customers rail freight through Russia. Alexandra Belmonte, Chief Compliance Officer, A.P. Moller-Maersk, states in an e-mail to WatchMedia that the company has not sent freight between Asia and Europe via Russian railways since May 2022, at which time this service was suspended. However, there was a single deviation with two containers of milk powder from Almaty in Kazakhstan to Suifenhe in Northeast China in April/May 2024.
Maersk owns 29.4 percent of TMT, while the rest is owned by the government-owned Chinese freight company, China State Railway Group. Maersk has instructed TMT to ensure that this does not happen again. Read the full article on FødevareWatch HERE (subscription required).
