Danone and Arcor now each hold a 50 per cent stake in the new joint venture, which brings together Danone Argentina, Mastellone Hermanos and logistics company Logistica La Serenísima under a single structure.
French food group Danone and Argentine company Arcor have completed the creation of a joint dairy venture in Argentina. Danone announced this in a press release dated 3 August 2026.
The new company brings together three entities: Danone’s Argentine dairy business, Danone Argentina, which according to the press release has operated in the country for 30 years; dairy producer Mastellone Hermanos, which has almost a century of history in Argentina’s dairy market; and the companies’ shared logistics business, Logistica La Serenísima.
Builds on long-standing partnership
According to Danone, the new structure builds on a partnership between the two companies spanning more than two decades. Danone and Arcor now each own 50 per cent of the joint venture and thus have equal control of the business.
From 1 August 2026, the company will be reflected in Danone’s financial statements as an equity-accounted company, in line with the group’s 50 per cent shareholding.
Aims to strengthen innovation and market position
According to Danone, the purpose of the merger is to draw on both companies’ strengths and scale to deliver faster innovation, improve operational efficiency and expand commercial reach within the category, for the benefit of Argentine consumers.
Danone describes itself as a global food and beverage company focused on three categories: dairy and plant-based products, waters, and specialised nutrition. The group reported turnover of €27.3 billion in 2025 and has around 90,000 employees, with products sold in more than 120 markets.
Arcor describes itself as one of Argentina’s largest food companies, with operations spanning consumer food products, packaging and agribusiness, and reported turnover of US$3.4 billion in 2025.
