Alfa Laval presents new agitator platform for hygienic production

A new agitator platform will reduce energy consumption and maintenance time in hygienic production, according to Alfa Laval.

Alfa Laval has developed a new agitator platform, EnSaLine, for hygienic production across sectors including dairy, food, beverages and pharmaceuticals.

The company told the Danish media Teknisk Nyt that the new agitators can reduce energy consumption by up to 80 per cent compared with equivalent technologies. The saving is attributed to the specially developed EnSaFoil impellers, which are said to deliver shorter mixing times.

“The hygienic agitators used today are becoming obsolete in many industries,” says Christian Jørgensen, global portfolio manager for Mixing at Alfa Laval, in an interview with Teknisk Nyt.

On the maintenance side, the design is built around a replaceable cartridge housing all seals and bearings. Alfa Laval states that servicing can be carried out by a single technician in under 30 minutes, without entering the tank.

The platform is 3-A certified and equipped with sensors for continuous monitoring of operating conditions.
