Most categories saw price declines at the Global Dairy Trade auction on Tuesday, September 2.
Overall, dairy product prices fell by 4.3 percent at the latest auction. Only the cheddar category went up, rising by 3.6 percent.
The biggest drags were buttermilk powder, whole milk powder, and skimmed milk powder, which dropped by 6.3 percent, 5.3 percent, and 5.8 percent respectively. Prices for milk fat, butter, and mozzarella also declined. The average price ended at €3,451
This marks the second consecutive decline at the influential GDT auction, though two weeks ago the drop was only 0.3 percent. Prices on the dairy market remain high, but since May they have either fallen or risen only moderately at the auctions.
