Arla is investing in its production facility in Bahrain to strengthen its market-leading position in spreadable cheese in glass jars across the Middle East and North Africa.
Arla Foods is already the market leader in this key category in the MENA region with its popular cream cheese sold under the Puck® brand. To further reinforce this position and meet growing demand – particularly during peak seasons – the dairy company is now making a significant investment in its Bahrain site. The investment will increase current production capacity by around 30%.
Puck is a household staple across countless homes in the MENA region, where it is the clear market leader in its category. Demand is especially high during Ramadan and in the run-up to the school season.
Arla Foods acquired the Bahrain production facility in 2019 and has since invested in upgrading and expanding it, making it a cornerstone of the company’s operations in the strategically important MENA region – Arla’s largest commercial market outside Europe.
The DKK 380 million investment covers both production facilities and storage and will create around 20 new jobs. By installing solar panels on the rooftops of the new buildings and upgrading cooling technology, the investment will also reduce CO2e emissions per ton of product produced.
Construction is expected to begin at the end of 2025.
