EU dairies increase exports to world markets

EU dairies increased their total exports of dairy products by 4.6 per cent in the first four months of the year compared with the same period in 2025. The sharpest rise was recorded for butter.

EU dairy exports to world markets gained ground in early 2026, according to figures compiled by the German analysis institute AMI covering the first four months of the year.

Cheese is the largest export commodity by volume. Exports rose from 451,000 to 476,000 tonnes in the January–April period compared with the same months last year, a rise of six per cent.

The same percentage increase was recorded for whole milk powder. Most striking was the development for butter, where exports rose by 35 per cent from 73,000 to 99,000 tonnes.
