The German industrial group GEA is acquiring Danish valve technology aimed at dairy and food production.

The Danish technology company Hydract, which has developed water-hydraulic valve solutions for, among other sectors, the dairy industry, has been sold to the German industrial group GEA.

Hydract was delisted from the First North exchange a year ago after several years of losses and capital challenges. GEA is now taking over the operations in Holstebro along with the underlying technology.

According to GEA, Hydract’s water-hydraulic technology can contribute to significantly lower energy consumption in production facilities, including in the dairy and food industries. The company has developed valves designed for process environments with stringent requirements for hygiene and energy efficiency.

At the time of the sale, Hydract employed around ten people and has reported losses in recent years. According to founder Peter Espersen, a sale was the best solution given the company’s situation. Peter Espersen will join the new setup together with the other nine employees, and for the time being the base will remain in Holstebro.

Formal approval of the transaction will take place at an extraordinary general meeting later in January.
