More Danish Milk in January

European milk production was lower this January compared to the same month last year—but Denmark went against the trend. This is reported by Landbrugsavisen.

According to data from the European Commission conserning the milk volumes in EU, the milk production was 0.3 percent lower in January than in the same month the previous year.

The decline is primarily due to reduced production in major milk-producing countries such as Germany and France. For instance, Germany’s milk production in January was 2.2 percent lower than last year, while France saw a 0.9 percent decrease. The Netherlands also recorded a 1.8 percent drop compared to the previous year.

However, some countries saw an increase. In Poland, for example, milk volumes was up by three percent in January compared to last year. Danish dairy farmers also contributed to the growth, with a 0.8 percent increase in milk production
