Demand for cottage cheese continues to grow. For the second year in a row, Arla’s cottage cheese dairy in Falkenberg, Sweden, has set a new production record.

By the end of October, the dairy had already surpassed 23,000 tonnes, and total production for 2025 is expected to reach around 27,000 tonnes – an increase of just over 17 per cent compared to last year’s record.

Demand for cottage cheese has risen sharply in recent years, in line with growing interest in high-protein, low-fat foods. Social media is full of recipes using cottage cheese in everything from baked goods and pancakes to salads and open sandwiches. This trend is clearly felt at the Falkenberg dairy, where all of Arla’s cottage cheese – more than 60 varieties, including the Swedish brand KESO© and the Danish brands Cheasy© and Karolines Køkken© – is produced.
