Protein: More than a trend – a matter for society

Lindahls has launched the Protein Report 2025 – with insights, trends, and inspiration on protein’s role in the future of food.

Interest in protein has surged, driven by health and fitness influencers, with sales of quark rising by 30% between 2021 and 2025. But protein is more than a nutritional trend – it’s a societal issue. That’s why Lindahls, Skånemejerier’s quark brand, has developed the Protein Report 2025. The report highlights protein’s importance for health, eating habits, and future food supply, while also comparing different protein sources.

The report underlines that protein matters not just for athletes but also for older adults. According to Sweden’s National Food Agency, people over 65 needs about 40% more protein per kilo of body weight than younger adults – and even more if they are ill or frail.

  • This is a message not widely known, and we work to spread it, particularly within elderly care, says Johan Stenmarck, Marketing Director at Skånemejerier.
