Arla Foods has received a public credit rating for the first time. The rating agency S&P highlights the cooperative’s financial robustness, strong earnings, and diversified product portfolio.
Arla Foods has been assigned a BBB rating with a stable outlook by the credit rating agency S&P Global Ratings, the company announced in a press release.
It is the first time the European dairy cooperative has received a public credit rating, and Arla describes it as an important milestone for the business.
The rating places Arla in the investment grade category, used to assess companies’ creditworthiness and financial strength.
Financial robustness highlighted
In its assessment, S&P points to Arla’s strong earnings, low leverage ratio, and resilient business model as key strengths.
The agency also highlights the cooperative’s diversified product portfolio and financial discipline.
According to Arla, the rating underscores the company’s ability to navigate a competitive and dynamic market.
“The rating recognises the financial strength of our cooperative and the robustness of our long term strategy. It supports our continued focus on value creation, operational excellence, and investing in the future of dairy for the benefit of our 7,200 farmer owners,” says Torben Dahl Nyholm in the press release.
He adds that the rating is expected to strengthen confidence among customers, suppliers, and farmer owners alike.
Stable performance expected to continue
The stable outlook means S&P anticipates that Arla will be able to maintain its profitability and withstand market fluctuations over the medium term without losing its investment grade status.
According to S&P, the assessment is based in part on expectations of continued stable operations and earnings across the cooperative.
