Acquisition of Bioreactors.net strengthens Tetra Pak’s portfolio in precision and biomass fermentation.
Tetra Pak is strengthening its technological platform within fermentation through the acquisition of Bioreactors.net – a Latvian company with nearly 30 years of experience in developing bioreactor systems, the company said in a press release.
Bioreactors.net provides both pilot-scale and industrial solutions for precision and biomass fermentation and will now become an integrated part of Tetra Pak. The company’s approximately 15 employees will transfer to the group as part of the deal.
With the acquisition, Tetra Pak expands its portfolio of processing equipment for fermentation-based food and ingredient production, bringing together upstream, downstream and fermentation technologies under one roof.
The acquisition is a key element of Tetra Pak’s wider New Food initiative, which also encompasses the Tetra Pak® New Food Technology Development Centre in Karlshamn, launched in June this year, and Biotech Heights in Lund – an innovation hub created in 2023 in partnership with Lund University.
