Arla Sweden is expanding its educational outreach with two new initiatives aimed at giving primary and lower secondary school pupils a closer look at dairy farming and food production.

The first initiative is a new teaching resource developed under the Arla Minior programme for pupils aged 7–9. It includes short films following milk’s journey from cow to carton, covering topics such as animal welfare, agricultural cycles and humanity’s dependence on nature. The materials are aligned with the Swedish national curriculum and available free of charge on Arla’s website, with distribution via external educational platforms planned ahead of the autumn term.

“Many children and young people are curious about food, animals and sustainability, but few have actually visited a farm. Through these initiatives, we want to make knowledge about Swedish food production more tangible and accessible, whether you live in the countryside or in a city,” said Maja Nordström, project manager for the initiatives, in a press release.

The second initiative is a pilot project for lower secondary schools, developed in partnership with LRF. It combines digital meetings with dairy farmers with on-farm visits, beginning with a virtual introduction before pupils visit a working dairy farm.
