Arla Sweden turns stomach sounds into music

Listening to your gut takes on a whole new meaning as Arla Sweden releases Profibeats – an electronic music track composed entirely of stomach sounds. The release is part of the marketing campaign for a new yoghurt drink.

The track, created exclusively from real digestive noises, has been produced by music producer Sean Fender in collaboration with Sofia Antonsson, a registered dietitian and specialist in gut and digestive health.

By combining music production with expertise in gut function, the duo has created a unique piece that draws attention to a subject often considered taboo – the sounds of the stomach.

  • The gut is a complex system that’s constantly communicating with us. Through sounds – bubbling, gurgling, rumbling – it tells us how we’re feeling. The goal of this project is to normalise that and show that it’s completely natural, says Sofia Antonsson.

Profibeats is being released on Spotify to coincide with the launch of Arla Cultura Profibi – a new fermented dairy drink and yoghurt containing eight different bacterial cultures, fibre, vitamin D, calcium and protein.

  • At Arla, we want to inspire a more relaxed and balanced attitude towards the gut – both in how we talk about it and in what we eat. The rhythm of the gut plays a vital role in our wellbeing. With Profibeats, together with Sofia and Sean, we want to spark curiosity and encourage open conversation about something that’s often a little taboo,” says Elin Boll, Health and Nutrition Expert at Arla.
