An experienced leader with a background at Carlsberg Group and Norwegian dairy company TINE has joined Arla Denmark as its new Supply Chain Director.

47-year-old Christian Granlund takes up a newly created position aimed at strengthening the supply chain from farm to fridge, Arla announced in a press release. Granlund assumed the role of Senior Vice President, Denmark Supply Chain End-to-End at Arla on 1 November. Drawing on his extensive experience from both Carlsberg Group and TINE, he brings strong international expertise in managing complex supply chains across Norway, Denmark and globally.

The new director is now focused on gaining an in-depth understanding of the Arla organisation.

• First and foremost, I am looking forward to getting to know Arla. I will be travelling extensively throughout November and December to visit sites across Denmark. It is important for me to meet the organisation and understand how we can continue developing the value chain together, says Christian Granlund.

New structure with an end-to-end perspective

The position has been established as part of Arla’s new organisational structure, designed to enable a more end-to-end approach to the supply chain. Granlund will therefore be responsible for both production and distribution in Denmark.

“I believe that by taking a unified perspective, we can enhance efficiency, create greater value for customers and further strengthen Arla’s position in the market. I look forward to contributing to the successful implementation of the new organisation, he says.

A key societal role

Granlund also emphasises Arla’s importance in an increasingly uncertain global environment where food supply is critical.

• Given the uncertainty we see in the world, it feels even more meaningful to be part of Arla’s supply chain. Arla plays a crucial national role in Denmark, as food supply remains essential in almost any crisis we face. With our direct delivery model – where we manage both picking and distribution ourselves – we are a key player in society, both in normal times and in times of crisis. It is responsibility we must shoulder sustainably, and that’s something I care deeply about, says Christian Granlund.
