Cottage cheese sales at Mammen Mejerierne have more than doubled in a year. The Danish dairy is now using the surge to raise funds for the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse), Denmark’s cancer research and patient support charity.
Cottage cheese is booming among Danish consumers, and the trend is being felt directly on the production floor at Mammen Mejerierne. Sales of the product more than doubled from 2024 to 2025, and demand remains high. The dairy is now using its strong market position to take on a social cause and raise visibility for it.
From week 35 to week 40, Mammen Mejerierne is selling its 1.5 per cent cottage cheese in special packaging for “Støt Brysterne”, a Danish breast cancer awareness campaign recognisable by its pink ribbon. For every tub sold during the period, the dairy donates a share of the proceeds to the Danish Cancer Society’s work on research, education and patient support.
Campaign expected to raise 150,000 kroner
Deputy director and co-owner Peter Staunsbæk is pleased to put the dairy’s commercial momentum towards a charitable cause:
“Cottage cheese has become an important part of our business, and we’ve seen a development in demand that we wouldn’t have dared imagine just a few years ago. It therefore makes good sense for us to use that position to support a cause that affects a great many people,” says Peter Staunsbæk.
The dairy expects the campaign to raise around 150,000 Danish kroner for Støt Brysterne. Beyond the product packaging, Mammen is backing the cause on social media, and staff from the dairy will take part in the Støt Brysterne run in Aarhus on 6 September.
