Over the past month, the management of the New Zealand dairy has announced investments of more than DKK 1.5 billion. Most recently, an investment of DKK 600 million in Whareroa.
The dairy in Whareroa is now being modernized for an amount of NZD 150 million, equivalent to more than DKK 600 million. This announcement has just been made by Fonterra. This continues the offensive development – also manifested by the announcement of a similar investment in the dairy at Edendale, at the beginning of September. And at the end of August, it was announced that the plant at Studholme would need DKK 300 million in investments for production improvements. In just a few weeks, Fonterra has thus announced investments of more than DKK 1.5 billion to take place over the coming years.
The Whareroa expansion will create a new cool store, primarily for the storage of cheese. The dairy handles every fifth litre of milk that Fonterra collects and currently employs over 1,000 people. The construction is expected to be completed within three years.
