Starting November 7, Starbucks customers in the US and Canada will no longer pay an additional fee to choose a plant-based milk alternative over dairy in their coffee or tea.
Substituting non-dairy milk – whether its soy, oat, almond or coconut drink – in a handcrafted beverage is the second most requested customization from Starbucks customers, behind adding a shot of espresso.
Starbucks in the UK, Germany, and France eliminated the surcharge for plant-based milk alternatives last year. In Denmark, however, customers still pay an additional 5 DKK for almond, coconut, oat, soy, and lactose-free milk in café drinks.
