Tetra Pak opens new food technology development centre

The new pilot facility aims to reduce investment risks and help producers bring high-quality, competitive fermented products to market faster

The Tetra Pak® New Food Technology Development Centre has officially opened in Karlshamn, Sweden, and is ready to assist producers of fermented foods in developing production processes, identifying equipment needs, and minimizing investment risks. With tailored support from experts, producers can take their fermented food products from prototype to full-scale production.

A team of highly skilled biotechnologists, food technologists, lab technicians, and production line experts work closely with food producers to design, run, and analyze tests aligned with their desired production outcomes. This results in customized, efficient processes and production line designs that lower costs and increase potential returns.

  • In a time when others in the industry are scaling back, we are moving forward. The Tetra Pak® New Food Technology Development Centre is our strongest commitment yet to the field of fermented foods. We believe there is a need to develop new food sources to feed a growing global population. But we also understand that scaling up new food products often means venturing into the unknown for many producers – and that’s exactly where we excel, says Charles Brand, Executive Vice President of Processing Solutions & Equipment at Tetra Pak.

The official inauguration took place on June 13.
