Ukrainian milk exports blocked by EU countries

Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia have barred imports of milk and dairy products from Ukraine. Eucolait condemns the decision.

Last year, the EU opened up imports of milk and dairy products from Ukraine to the single market in order to help the war-torn country. Now, however, three of the neighbouring countries are taking a stand by trying to shut down Ukrainian exports. Poland, Hungary, and Slovakia contend that their markets are flooded with cheap Ukrainian milk, thereby putting pressure on their farmers and dairies. This information is provided by the Dairy Industry Newsletter (dairy industry media).

The European Association of Dairy Trade, Eucolait, has condemned this initiative and has called on the European Commission to take action against the countries concerned, as Ukrainian exports are extremely small compared to the total EU production.
